Stella Bella, Chardonnay
This is a wine of pure elegance and finesse which we’re really proud to have in our cellar.
Country of Production: Australia
Region: Margaret River
Producer: Stella Bella
Tasting Notes: Bright pale lemon. An expressive and complex nose with a perfect balance of fresh fruit and savoury complexity. Aromas of freshly crushed lime, nectarine, peach fuzz, and candle wax lift out of the glass. Balanced by subtle roasted hazelnut and flinty aromas from barrel fermentation in the finest quality French oak.
The delicious and intense fruit combination continues on the palate, with mineral acidity. This creates focused length, with phenolic drive. Not too heavy, nor too light, the textural finish has a lingering nuttiness and complexity that will have you wanting more.
All the individual vineyards that contribute to the Stella Bella Chardonnay were vinified separately. Most batches were hand‐picked at between 12.0 to 13.3° Be and cooled overnight before whole bunch pressing to extract free run juice only. Fermentation occurred in a combination of new and older Burgundian oak, with a maximum of 20% new oak in each batch. Fermentation temperature was controlled between 25°C to 26°C and the lees were stirred regularly from the end of fermentation and throughout the malo‐lactic fermentation. After 10 to 12 months in barrel the wine was blended to tank and held for 6 months prior to fining, filtration and bottling.

Margaret River is a small but major wine region in South Western Australia which produces around 3% of Australia’s grapes, but over 20% of Australia’s premium wine.
Stella Bella, established in 1998 by Stuart Pym, is a leading producer in the Margaret River region and akin to Pretty Screwed, Stella Bella believe one of life’s greatest pleasures is sharing the experience of beautiful wine.
Their approach to winemaking starts with celebrating the diversity of their five vineyards, taking advantage of their cooler climate and reflecting this in their wines. The Stella Bella philosophy is simple; to operate in a manner that consciously respects the vineyards as well as the local environment with minimal use of chemical inputs and fertilisers.
