Riecine, Chianti Classico

Tasting Notes: Pale crimson red in colour, this fine and fruity red wine has intense aromas of cherries, blueberries with subtle rose and eucalyptus. It has an elegant medium bodied structure balanced with velvety and rounded tannins and bright acidity.
The grapes are generally harvested the second week of October. Picked by hand with two selections; firstly, at the vine and secondly on the sorting table.
Grapes are crushed by foot and then, fermented in open top bins and cement “Nomblot” tanks. Whole grape bunches make up 15% of the wine at this stage. Maceration takes place for about 40 days before pressing off. It is then aged for 18 months in a mix of cement “Nomblot” tanks and wooden casks.

Industry experts say…
Luca Gardini rated this wine as the best 2016 Chianti Classico with a score of 96. Describing it as “Refined on the nose for its alternating floral part with a rich fruity red parterre. In the mouth, the resulting sensations are similar, with flower preceding the fruit, which is juicy, pomegranate in particular, pulpy, ripe and cheery with a flavourful finish.”
James Suckling gave it a rating of 94 noting “Intense aromas of cherries, blueberries and lemon rind. Hints of rose petals and white chocolate. Medium to full body, polished and well-integrated tannins and a beautiful, clean and precise finish. Refined and harmonic.”
